Who this policy covers
This policy applies to visitors of Mantis Studio (run by Ruan Visagie) and anyone who contacts the studio by email, phone, or WhatsApp. It explains what information is collected through this site and how it’s used.
What information is collected
Only what’s given voluntarily: name, email address, and message content submitted through a contact form or email, or a phone number if you reach out by phone or WhatsApp. Downloading the portfolio PDF or browsing the site doesn’t collect any personal information beyond standard, anonymous server logs (the kind any web host keeps for security and uptime).
How it’s used
Solely to respond to your enquiry, discuss a potential project, or deliver what you asked for. Nothing submitted through this site is sold, rented, or used for marketing you didn’t ask for.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand traffic: which pages get visited, roughly where from, and how the site performs. It’s cookieless: it doesn’t set any cookie, doesn’t build a profile of you, and can’t track you across other sites. It doesn’t use advertising pixels or ad retargeting of any kind. The hosting infrastructure separately keeps basic technical logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and reliability. This is the same baseline any web host keeps, and it isn’t used to profile or track individuals.
Third parties
Messages sent by email or WhatsApp are handled by those platforms (Google, Meta) under their own privacy policies. Vercel Web Analytics (see above) and the site’s hosting are both provided by Vercel Inc., which processes data only to serve the site and generate aggregate traffic stats. That data isn’t shared with anyone else for their own purposes.
How long information is kept
Enquiry details are kept only as long as needed to respond to you or, if a project goes ahead, for the life of that working relationship. Ask at any time and anything on file will be deleted, unless the studio is legally required to keep it longer (e.g. for tax records).
Your rights
Wherever you’re based, you can ask to see, correct, or delete any personal information Mantis Studio holds about you. South African visitors have these rights under POPIA; EU/UK visitors under GDPR. To make a request, email info@mantisstudio.co.za.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated occasionally as the studio’s tools or practices change. The date below always reflects the current version.
